Floods Displace Families in Cagayan and Nueva Vizcaya Provinces
TUGUEGARAO CITY — Heavy rains continued to lash Cagayan and Nueva Vizcaya provinces, forcing the displacement of at least 2,410 individuals from 769 families. The ongoing flooding and landslide risks disrupted communities despite Severe Tropical Storm Crising moving away from the country.
According to the Cagayan Valley Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC), Cagayan province reported 762 affected families, totaling 2,399 people, while Nueva Vizcaya recorded seven families or 11 individuals displaced. Other provinces in the region, including Isabela, Quirino, and Batanes, have yet to submit their data, local sources said.
Preemptive Evacuations and Property Damage
In Cagayan, authorities preemptively evacuated 263 families, amounting to 816 people, from areas prone to flooding. This proactive measure aimed to prevent casualties amid the persistent heavy rains, the council noted.
Unfortunately, the severe weather caused significant damage in Baua, Gonzaga, Cagayan. One house was completely destroyed, while two others suffered partial damage due to flooding and heavy rainfall. Local leaders reported these incidents as part of the ongoing disaster challenges.

The continuous downpour keeps floodwaters rising and increases the threat of landslides in vulnerable communities. Disaster management teams remain on alert, monitoring affected areas and coordinating relief and evacuation operations.
