The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported three additional fatalities in the Cordillera Administrative Region due to the impact of recent cyclones and the southwest monsoon. This update brings the total death toll to 37 nationwide.
Most casualties occurred in Metro Manila, which recorded nine deaths. Calabarzon followed closely with eight fatalities, while Western Visayas reported six. Authorities continue to monitor affected areas closely and provide assistance to those impacted.
Public Works Secretary Admits Lack of Project Monitoring System
Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan confessed that his department lacked a monitoring system for multiple flood control and mitigation projects. These projects were inserted into the P6.326-trillion 2025 national budget by congressmen before President Bongbong Marcos signed it in December last year.
