Tragic Collision Claims Four Family Members in Pangasinan
CALASIAO, Pangasinan — Four family members died in a tragic highway crash involving a motorcycle with a sidecar, locally known as a “kulong-kulong,” in western Pangasinan. The fatal accident occurred along the national highway in Infanta at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025.
Authorities confirmed that the four victims were Allan Henry Sanchez, the driver of the kulong-kulong; his wife, Crisanta Sanchez; and their two young children. All were residents of Barangay Nayom in Infanta town, officials reported.
Accident Details and Investigation Findings
Initial investigations revealed that the kulong-kulong struck a roadside tree branch, which caused Allan Henry Sanchez to lose control of the vehicle. The motorcycle then collided head-on with a Hyundai van traveling in the opposite direction.
The violent impact resulted in severe injuries to all four occupants of the kulong-kulong. Emergency responders quickly transported them to the nearest hospital; however, they were pronounced dead upon arrival, community members said.
Van Driver Detained Following Incident
The driver of the Hyundai van, identified as Christian Bernardez from Calasiao, Pangasinan, is currently in police custody. Authorities are conducting further inquiries to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash, sources said.
