Four Filipinos Injured Amid Iran Retaliatory Attacks on Israel
Four Filipinos have been injured due to Iran’s retaliatory attacks on Israel, local officials confirmed. Among them, a Filipina caregiver is currently in critical condition, receiving intensive care at a medical facility.
The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv shared that the caregiver is hospitalized at Shamir Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit. Meanwhile, two other injured Filipinos—a 43-year-old woman who underwent emergency surgery and a 44-year-old man with arm and leg injuries—are being treated at Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot.
Embassy Actions and Support for the Injured
The embassy immediately deployed a rapid response team to provide assistance to the victims. They are working closely with hospital social workers and local authorities to ensure the injured individuals receive proper care and support upon discharge.
Officials confirmed that the victims will be transferred to suitable shelters. Additionally, the embassy is facilitating compensation and benefits to aid their recovery. However, the Filipina caregiver remains in a life-threatening state due to severe heart and lung injuries, with medical staff doing everything possible to stabilize her.
Embassy Closure and Ongoing Coordination
In response to the ongoing security situation, the Philippine Embassy announced it will stay closed until further notice, following Israel Defense Forces (IDF) guidelines that restrict gatherings and work operations.
Filipinos in Israel are strongly urged to adhere to the IDF’s security directives and the embassy’s safety advisories. Those with scheduled passport appointments will be contacted with further instructions.
The embassy is actively coordinating with Philippine agencies, Israeli authorities, and Filipino community leaders to ensure all affected Filipinos receive necessary assistance. An emergency hotline is available for urgent concerns.
Escalating Conflict Between Iran and Israel
The recent violence erupted when Israel launched strikes on Tehran for the third consecutive day. These Israeli attacks have reportedly killed at least 224 people in Iran. Iran retaliated with strikes on Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, causing injuries and fatalities on the Israeli side.
This exchange followed Israel’s sudden offensive last week, citing intelligence on Iran’s alleged plans against Israel. The escalating conflict has placed many civilians, including foreign nationals, in danger.
Filipino Community’s Call for Prayer and Support
The Philippine Ambassador to Israel expressed deep concern and vowed to assist affected Filipinos to the fullest extent possible. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families, especially our kababayan who is now fighting for her life. We ask the Filipino community to join us in praying for her survival and healing,” she said.
