Four Injured in Tayuman Street Explosion in Manila
MANILA — Four people were hurt in an explosion along Tayuman Street in Tondo, Manila, on Sunday afternoon, local authorities said. The Manila Police District confirmed the incident occurred near the intersection with Dagupan Street in Barangay 234 at around 2:30 p.m.
According to the initial investigation, barangay councilman Nino Cervantes shared that the victims were dismantling an unknown object when it suddenly exploded. The four injured were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Investigation Reveals Air Conditioner Compressor Explosion
Crime scene investigators later determined that the object involved was an air conditioner compressor. The blast caused injuries but no fatalities, officials confirmed.
All victims were transported by ambulance to Tondo General Hospital and Jose Reyes Hospital. The rescue was assisted by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and a local congressman’s ambulance team.
Authorities continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the explosion to prevent similar incidents in the future. Local leaders urged residents to be cautious when handling unknown objects.
