Four Provinces in Luzon Brace for Thunderstorms Friday
Four provinces in Luzon are expected to face rain showers with thunderstorms this Friday, local weather authorities said. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued a thunderstorm advisory early in the day, warning residents to prepare for heavy rains and strong winds.
Areas Under Thunderstorm Advisory
Within the next two hours, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, and Tarlac will likely experience moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. The weather bureau urged everyone in these regions to stay alert and take necessary precautions against potential hazards like flash floods and landslides.
“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards, which include flash floods and landslides,” local officials noted.
Ongoing Southwest Monsoon Influence
Pagasa also reported that the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, remains active and continues to influence the country’s weather patterns. This monsoon contributes to the enhanced rainfall over many parts of Luzon and nearby areas.
Monitoring Low-Pressure Area
Meanwhile, meteorologists are closely watching a low-pressure area (LPA) with a high chance of developing into a tropical depression. This system may enter the Philippine area of responsibility soon and could become the first cyclone of August and the sixth for 2025.
Residents are advised to stay updated through official weather reports and follow safety guidelines as the situation develops.
