Four Suspects Charged in Boracay Rape and Murder
ILOILO CITY – Authorities have officially charged four suspects in connection with the rape and murder of Slovakian tourist Michaela Mickova at Boracay Island on March 12. The Police Regional Office-6 confirmed that all four individuals are linked to this tragic crime.
Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, director of PRO-6, stated that two of the suspects are currently in police custody, while the other two remain at large. “The two were arrested on separate charges while the other two are still at large,” Wanky said.
Details on the Case and Suspect Status
The 23-year-old Mickova was found lifeless inside an abandoned chapel in Malay town, sparking a thorough investigation by local authorities. Last week, the Aklan Police Provincial Office reported the filing of a rape with homicide case on May 30 through the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG). However, the team has withheld further specifics, including the number of suspects involved, only confirming the presence of “multiple” suspects.
Wanky revealed that the suspects had been identified earlier as persons of interest by the Malay police. One of those detained was arrested during an anti-drug operation and provided an affidavit admitting knowledge of the crime. The other was taken into custody for illegal possession of a firearm.
Ongoing Efforts and Justice for Mickova
Authorities remain confident that the remaining suspects will soon be apprehended. Police officials emphasize their commitment to ensuring justice for Michaela Mickova and bringing closure to this heartbreaking case.
