Free Bus and Truck Rides Available July 24
MANILA, Philippines — Commuters can take advantage of free bus and truck rides on Thursday, July 24, amid the relentless rains caused by the southwest monsoon, Severe Tropical Storm Emong, and Tropical Storm Dante. The free rides aim to ease travel difficulties during this period of heavy flooding.
This initiative comes from the Department of Transportation, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine Ports Authority, offering relief to stranded passengers. The free service will operate on specific routes during morning and evening peak hours.
Designated Routes and Schedules for Free Rides
Free rides will be available from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the following routes:

- Quiapo to Angono, Rizal
- Legarda to Angono, Rizal
- Lawton to Alabang, Muntinlupa City

Weather Update and Flood Warnings
As of the 8 a.m. rainfall advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), several areas remain under heavy rain warnings. Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, and Laguna are under an orange warning level, indicating expected rainfall of 15 to 30 millimeters within three hours.
Meanwhile, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Quezon are under a yellow warning, forecasting 7.5 to 15 millimeters of rainfall in the same period. Nueva Ecija continues to experience light to moderate rains with occasional heavy downpours expected to persist over the next three hours.
Local leaders noted that these weather conditions contribute to worsening flood situations in affected areas. The free bus and truck rides are part of efforts to ease commuting challenges amid these conditions.
