Free Shuttle Buses at NAIA Ensure Safe Terminal Transfers

Free Shuttle Buses at NAIA Simplify Terminal Transfers

Travelers moving between terminals at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) can now enjoy the convenience of free shuttle buses operating throughout the day. These free shuttle buses run every 15 minutes on a continuous loop, providing a reliable and cost-free way to transfer between terminals.

The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) emphasized that this service offers a safe and hassle-free option for passengers. “This service ensures convenient, safe, and cost-free transfers without the need to book or pay for a separate vehicle,” officials noted, responding to a recent viral video involving a taxi overcharging a passenger.

Taxi Incident Sparks Action from Authorities

The video showed a cab driver asking for P1,200 for a short ride between NAIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. In response, the Department of Transportation Secretary vowed to revoke both the driver’s license and the taxi company’s franchise. Meanwhile, the NNIC launched an investigation and found that the taxi was not authorized among accredited transport providers allowed to pick up passengers inside the airport.

Authorized Transport Services at NAIA Terminals

Only accredited Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) like Grab and Joyride Super Taxi are permitted to pick up passengers at NAIA, operating from a centralized hub at Terminal 3. For Terminals 1 and 2, travelers are encouraged to use official, accredited transport services with booths at the arrival curbside. Alternatively, ride-hailing app users should proceed to the designated pickup points to avoid unauthorized drivers.

Metered taxis are restricted to drop-offs only and are not allowed to solicit or accept passengers inside the airport. This ensures the safety and convenience of all travelers while maintaining public access.

Strengthening Enforcement and Monitoring

The NNIC confirmed it has strict transport protocols but is reviewing additional measures to tighten enforcement. Plans include enhanced monitoring of drop-off areas, better curbside surveillance, and closer coordination with transport authorities to prevent similar incidents.

Passengers are reminded to take advantage of the free shuttle buses and authorized services to avoid unnecessary costs and ensure safe travel between NAIA terminals.
