Globe Donates Refurbished Laptops to Boost Digital Inclusion

Globe recently took a significant step to support digital inclusion and grassroots empowerment by donating 10 refurbished laptops to various barangays in Bohol. This initiative marks the beginning of their digitalization journey and promotes the adoption of eGovernance within local communities. These refurbished laptops will play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of the Lupon Tagapamayapa, a barangay group responsible for peacefully resolving disputes among residents.

By transitioning from outdated typewriters to modern laptops, the Lupon Tagapamayapa can minimize manual errors, maintain digital records rather than paper copies, and streamline communications through email. This shift not only safeguards important documents but also simplifies everyday processes, allowing barangay officials to concentrate on serving their communities better.

Supporting Barangay Peace Councils Through Technology

The turnover ceremony took place at the Provincial Capitol in Tagbilaran City, highlighted by a keynote speech from a local board member representing the vice governor. Local officials, including barangay leaders and representatives from community organizations, expressed their gratitude towards Globe and other supporters for championing ICT development across the province.

Barangay Captain Joseph Sagaral of San Isidro shared heartfelt thanks on behalf of all recipient barangays. The beneficiaries include barangays from Tagbilaran City, Antequera, Tubigon, Corella, Albur, Calape, Loon, Balilihan, Catigbian, and the municipality of Cortes.

Enhancing Peace and Order with Refurbished Laptops

A representative from Globe highlighted the importance of this donation as part of their larger mission to create a #GlobeOfGood by empowering communities through technology. “We recognize the vital role of the Lupon Tagapamayapa in maintaining peace and order on the grassroots level, and we are proud to support them with tools that improve access, accuracy, and efficiency,” the official said.

Local officials welcomed the support, noting how these digital tools will formalize and improve the services that barangay peace councils provide. One leader emphasized, “This contribution from Globe will directly improve how our barangay peace councils carry out their duties.”

Promoting Sustainability and Digital Growth in Bohol

The laptops come from Globe’s sustainability programs aimed at reducing electronic waste by extending the life of digital devices. This initiative aligns with the province’s strategic goals to advance digital inclusion and community resilience, supporting frameworks like the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark and Regenerative Island.

Globe’s commitment to nation-building continues by expanding access to digital tools, fostering inclusive development, and boosting community resilience with technology-driven solutions.
