Government Anti-Narcotics Agents Seize Over P6M Shabu Shipment
Government anti-narcotics agents recently seized a massive shipment of shabu valued at P6,854,400. This operation led to the arrest of a female consignee at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), authorities reported. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office in the National Capital Region confirmed the successful interdiction on June 2.
The package, declared as “lady’s wear and bags,” was shipped from Ontario, Canada. The key phrase “government anti-narcotics agents” describes the dedicated team behind this bust. The 28-year-old suspect, known by the alias “Ruth,” was listed as the consignee but claimed she had no knowledge of the illegal contents.
Discovery During Inspection
During the inspection, agents found numerous self-sealing transparent plastic bags wrapped in foil and cling wrap. Inside, they uncovered approximately one kilogram of a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu. The drugs were carefully concealed within the package to avoid detection.
Alongside the drugs, authorities confiscated a mobile phone, a notice card, and several identification cards. One ID bore the suspect’s real name, while the others appeared to be fake and linked to different identities. This discovery suggested an attempt to cover tracks and mislead investigators.
Legal Charges and Next Steps
The suspect now faces charges under Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.” The arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs entering the country through international shipments.
Authorities continue to investigate the source and intended recipients of the seized shabu. They are also verifying the authenticity of the documents found with the suspect to uncover any broader criminal networks.
