Government Anti-Narcotics Seize P816M Shabu in Pasig City
Authorities from the government anti-narcotics team successfully confiscated shabu worth approximately P816 million during a major operation in Pasig City on June 8. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported that this significant drug bust involved the interception of around 120 kilograms of suspected shabu hidden in inbound parcels.
The parcels were discovered at a cargo warehouse around 2 p.m. and were cleverly concealed inside assorted chip boxes. According to sources, these packages originated from several locations in California, USA. Each box contained vacuum-sealed, transparent plastic packets filled with a white crystalline substance.
Details of the Interdiction Operation
PDEA noted that the parcels were addressed to multiple recipients in Taguig, Pasig, and Makati City. These shipments arrived undeclared, raising suspicion during the inspection. Raman Spectroscopy tests confirmed that the substances were indeed high-purity shabu.
While no arrests were made during this stage of the operation, officials emphasized that this seizure has opened the door to a wider investigation. The success of this interdiction reflects strong coordination between the PDEA and its law enforcement partners.
Call for Public Vigilance
PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez highlighted the importance of community support in the fight against illegal drugs. He urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious packages or drug-related activities. Reports can be submitted anonymously through official channels.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of government anti-narcotics authorities to dismantle drug networks and protect communities from the dangers of illegal substances.
