LEGAZPI CITY — Government forces recovered a cache of explosives and firearms during a recent operation in Malinao, Albay, officials reported on Sunday, September 7. The discovery highlights ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms and insurgent activities in the region.
Details of the Recovered Explosives and Firearms
According to Albay police authorities, the combat operation yielded several weapons, including a shotgun without a serial number, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and a rifle grenade launcher. Additionally, they confiscated 31 linked 7.62mm bullets, five shotgun shells, a rifle grenade case, and two magazines for a 5.56mm rifle.
Officials also seized paraphernalia linked to insurgent groups, such as two flags associated with the New People’s Army—the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines. A bandolier and a black pail were recovered as well, further indicating the presence of armed elements in the area.
Proper Disposal and Security Measures
