Heads Will Roll Over Water Supply Woes: Marcos’ Stark Warning
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued a strong warning about the ongoing water supply woes affecting millions of Filipinos nationwide. During his fourth State of the Nation Address, he emphasized that the government will hold accountable those responsible for the crisis.
“Heads will roll over water supply woes,” Marcos declared, highlighting that about six million consumers have been impacted by poor water service. “We have received so many complaints that the water doesn’t even reach their faucets,” he added in Filipino.
The president vowed to ensure that officials and agencies failing in this vital public service will face consequences. He also pointed to the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), which oversees more than 500 water districts, as taking active steps to resolve the problems.
Government Steps to Address the Crisis
Marcos said he has reviewed reports on the matter and urged swift action to improve water delivery. The LWUA is investigating the shortcomings of several water districts and their partners, especially PrimeWater, amid growing consumer complaints.
Palace officials confirmed that the president is currently assessing a comprehensive LWUA report. On April 30, Marcos ordered the agency to look into the mounting concerns related to water supply disruptions and service failures.
“We will ensure that those who neglect and fail in this important public service are held accountable,” Marcos stressed, signaling zero tolerance for negligence.
Public Impact and Accountability
Millions of Filipinos have experienced the brunt of these water supply issues, affecting households and businesses alike. Local leaders noted the urgency for reforms and stronger oversight to prevent such crises from recurring.
The government’s firm stance aims to restore public trust and guarantee reliable water service across the country. Continuous monitoring and corrective measures are expected as authorities work to resolve the situation swiftly.
