Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Philippines This Weekend
The Philippines is set to experience heavy rainfall from Friday, June 6, through Monday, June 9, as a low pressure area (LPA) combines with the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat. The state weather bureau warned that several areas could receive between 50 to 100 millimeters of rain during this period.
According to a recent advisory, the heavy rainfall is expected to be more intense in mountainous and elevated regions. This could worsen conditions in provinces already affected by previous rains. “Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall,” sources noted.
