Heavy Rainfall Expected in Metro Manila and Nearby Provinces
MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rainfall is forecasted in Metro Manila and four surrounding provinces on Monday as the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, continues to affect the region, sources said.
The National Capital Region, along with Bataan, Cavite, Zambales, and Batangas, remains under a yellow rainfall warning issued by the weather agency. This warning signals the possibility of flooding in these areas.
Areas Under Yellow Rainfall Warning
The provinces under the yellow rainfall warning include parts of Zambales such as Botolan, Cabangan, San Felipe, San Marcelino, San Antonio, San Narciso, Olongapo, Subic, and Castillejos. In Batangas, the covered towns include Tuy, Nasugbu, Lian, Calatagan, Balayan, Laurel, and Calaca.
A yellow warning is the lowest level in the three-tier rainfall alert system. It is followed by an orange warning, which indicates flooding threats in low-lying areas and riverbanks. The highest alert, red warning, means severe flooding is expected.
Additional Rainfall Forecast and Affected Areas
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains, with occasional heavy downpours, are expected within the next three hours in Nueva Ecija and Quezon, according to local meteorological reports. These showers may persist and cause localized flooding.
Other provinces likely to experience light to moderate rains with intermittent heavy showers include Tarlac, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Pampanga. Specific municipalities in Batangas such as Agoncillo, Alitagtag, and Batangas City, among others, are also forecasted to receive rainfall. Zambales towns including Candelaria, Iba, Masinloc, Palauig, and Santa Cruz are similarly affected.
Residents and commuters are advised to stay alert and monitor updates as the southwest monsoon continues to bring wet weather across these regions. Local leaders noted the importance of preparedness amid the potential for flooding.
