Heavy Rainfall Expected to Persist in Luzon Until July 6

Heavy Rainfall Expected in Luzon Until July 6

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rainfall is forecast to continue until Sunday afternoon, July 6, as local weather authorities warn of persistent showers across parts of Luzon. The heavy rainfall will affect several provinces due to the combined influence of a low pressure area and the southwest monsoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that the low pressure area (LPA) located off Northern Luzon, together with the prevailing southwest monsoon—locally known as the habagat—are driving the expected heavy rainfall. These weather conditions have prompted a heavy rainfall outlook that covers the next three days.

Low Pressure Area Update and Tropical Development Risk

In a separate advisory, local meteorological sources noted the LPA was last observed over the coastal waters of Sabtang, Batanes as of 2 p.m. on Thursday. The LPA remains active within the Philippine area of responsibility and carries a medium chance to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Residents in affected areas are urged to stay alert and monitor updates from authorities as the weather system continues to influence rainfall patterns. Precautionary measures are advised to minimize the risk of flooding and landslides, especially in vulnerable communities.
