The combined effects of Tropical Depression Crising and the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, will bring heavy rainfall across many parts of the Philippines until Sunday, sources said Thursday night. Residents should prepare for significant rainfall as these weather systems intensify.

Other provinces such as Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Catanduanes, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Cebu, Zamboanga del Norte, Lanao del Norte, and Lanao del Sur should prepare for 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall.

From Friday evening, July 18, to Saturday evening, July 19, Apayao and Ilocos Norte are expected to receive over 200 millimeters of rain. Batanes, Cagayan, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Abra, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Antique will likely get between 100 to 200 millimeters.

Meanwhile, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Metro Manila, La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and Oriental Mindoro should expect 50 to 100 millimeters.
Tropical Depression Crising’s Path and Intensity
Tropical Depression Crising was last reported about 460 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, moving northwest at 15 kilometers per hour. It carried winds up to 55 kph with gusts reaching 70 kph, local leaders noted.
The depression is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm early Friday morning. It may make landfall in mainland Cagayan or the Babuyan Islands by Friday afternoon or evening.
Residents in affected areas are advised to stay alert for updates and prepare for possible flooding or disruptions caused by the heavy rains.
