Heavy Rains Expected in Some Luzon Areas Sunday Afternoon
MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rains are expected in some Luzon areas this Sunday afternoon, weather authorities have confirmed. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecasted thunderstorms developing and persisting in parts of Luzon, warning residents to stay vigilant.
In its 1:36 p.m. thunderstorm advisory, the state weather bureau reported that Metro Manila and nearby provinces will experience moderate to heavy rainfall within the next two hours. The affected areas include Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Quezon.
Areas Currently Experiencing Downpour
Meanwhile, several provinces are already facing heavy downpours. These include several municipalities in Laguna such as Pangil, Pakil, and Siniloan; Rizal’s Tanay and Pililla; Cavite cities including Trece Martires and Dasmariñas; Batangas towns like Lipa and Tanauan; Zambales municipalities such as Olongapo and Subic; and parts of Bataan including Morong and Bagac.
Take Precautions Against Weather Hazards
Pagasa urged the public to take precautionary measures due to the risks these weather conditions pose, such as flash floods and landslides. The agency emphasized that these hazards could affect daily activities and safety.
Earlier forecasts indicated the southwest monsoon will continue to influence the western sections of the country, while the intertropical convergence zone will bring rainfall over some areas in Mindanao, sources said.
