Heavy Rains Expected: Tropical Storm Crising Updates

Heavy Rains Expected Across Philippine Regions

Heavy rains are set to continue in several parts of the Philippines until Tuesday, driven by Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon. The state weather agency recently issued its latest rainfall advisory, highlighting areas at risk.

Although Tropical Storm Crising intensified and left the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday morning, it remains influential. Sources said the storm still affects weather patterns and strengthens the southwest monsoon, keeping rainfall levels high in many provinces.

Rainfall Forecast from July 19 to 20

Authorities warn of more than 200 millimeters of rain between Saturday, July 19, and noon Sunday, July 20, in Apayao, Abra, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur. Many other provinces are expecting 100 to 200 millimeters of rain, including Cagayan, Batanes, Benguet, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, La Union, and Metro Manila, among others.

Additional areas like Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Nueva Ecija, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro, and several Visayan provinces are also forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall during this period.

Rainfall Outlook from July 20 to 22

From noon Sunday until noon Monday, heavy rain of 100 to 200 millimeters is expected in Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro. Other areas including Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Antique, and Aklan are likely to receive 50 to 100 millimeters.

By Monday noon to Tuesday noon, rainfall amounts will reduce slightly, with Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro still seeing 50 to 100 millimeters of rain.

Tropical Storm Crising’s Current Status

Severe Tropical Storm Crising was last tracked 235 kilometers west of Itbayat, Batanes, moving west-northwest at 15 kilometers per hour. It carried winds up to 100 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching 125 kilometers per hour. Despite leaving the official Philippine area, it continues to influence weather conditions through the southwest monsoon, local leaders noted.

Residents in affected provinces are advised to stay alert for potential flooding and landslides. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as needed.
