Heavy Traffic Hits North Luzon Expressway Sunday Afternoon
MANILA, Philippines — Heavy traffic is causing delays on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) this Sunday afternoon due to a road accident, sources said. The incident has led to a significant slowdown, especially from Marilao to Lingunan in Valenzuela southbound.
According to local traffic updates as of 2 p.m., vehicles are moving at a speed of only 10 to 20 kilometers per hour. The crash has blocked the leftmost and middle lanes (lanes 1 and 2), forcing drivers to navigate through limited road space.
Emergency Response and Traffic Management
Authorities have deployed patrol and emergency response teams to manage the situation and clear the scene as quickly as possible. To ease congestion, a counterflow scheme is currently in place from the Meycauayan Interchange to Balintawak.
Meanwhile, northbound traffic from the NLEx Harbor Link Interchange to Lingunan, Valenzuela, is also experiencing slow movement, ranging between 10 to 30 kilometers per hour. This is attributed to a previous crash and the use of the leftmost lane as a counterflow lane.
Other Areas See Light Traffic
Despite the congestion in certain sections, traffic remains light in other parts of the NLEx, including the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway and the NLEx Connector. Toll plazas and interchanges in these areas continue to operate smoothly.
Motorists are advised to plan their trips accordingly and stay updated on traffic developments to avoid delays.
