Details of the Davao Occidental Fraud Case
The arrest warrant, issued on July 22, 2024, came from Regional Trial Court Branch 20 in Davao Occidental, presided over by Judge Carmelita Davin, sources said. The Syjucos, owners of the upscale residential developer Draco Builders, face serious allegations of defrauding a client of nearly P200 million. The charges include “misappropriation and contract deceit,” according to local officials.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago emphasized the importance of accountability, stating, “No one is above the law.” He added that the justice system remains firm in pursuing and prosecuting both corporate and individual abuses, reinforcing public trust.
Collaboration Behind the Arrest
The successful operation was a coordinated effort involving several NBI units. These included the Organized and Transnational Crime Division, NBI Southeastern Mindanao Region, and the NAIA Division. The Bureau of Immigration also played a crucial role in ensuring the couple’s capture, Albao noted.
This arrest marks a significant step in addressing white-collar crimes in the country, sending a strong message that fraudulent acts, especially involving substantial sums, will face swift legal action.
