Tragedy Strikes in Barangay Singcang-Airport
A hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a 27-year-old call center agent in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, on Tuesday, June 10. The victim, Tricia Ann, a resident of Barangay Pahanocoy, was fatally injured after being struck by a pickup truck while on her way to work.
Authorities reported that Tricia Ann was the back rider of a motorcycle driven by her 28-year-old live-in partner, McKevin. Police said the accident occurred when McKevin lost control of the motorcycle on a slippery road caused by heavy rain.
Details of the Hit-and-Run Incident
According to police Executive Master Sgt. Rodney Tiania, deputy chief of the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), McKevin fell off the motorcycle after skidding on the wet surface. Tricia Ann was thrown into the opposite lane, where an oncoming pickup truck ran over her. She died instantly, while McKevin sustained minor injuries.
Tiania revealed that McKevin was driving at a high speed when the accident happened. Despite attempts to identify the pickup truck, investigators have been unable to obtain clear license plate information due to poor CCTV footage from nearby businesses.
Ongoing Investigation and Appeals
The TEU has deployed additional traffic investigators to track down the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run incident. Authorities remain hopeful they can identify and locate the driver soon.
“We urge the driver to come forward and help deliver justice to the victim,” Tiania said. The family of Tricia Ann also appealed to the driver to surrender, hoping for accountability and closure.
This tragic hit-and-run incident has shaken the local community, reigniting calls for safer roads and responsible driving.
