Hope for Lupus Exhibit Launches to Raise Awareness
Driven by her personal battle with lupus, a senior government official inaugurated the “Hope for Lupus Exhibit” at SM Aura Premier yesterday. This public awareness campaign, organized by the Hope for Lupus Foundation in partnership with SM Supermalls, aims to demystify lupus and promote timely diagnosis among the Filipino community.
Diagnosed in her early twenties with this autoimmune disease, the official endured years of severe pain, frequent hospital stays, and life-threatening moments. Today, she uses her experience to educate the public and foster a supportive environment for patients and their families.
“My journey with lupus taught me resilience and compassion,” she shared during the ribbon-cutting event. “By sharing our stories here, we empower people to seek help sooner and stand together against this unpredictable disease.”
Interactive Exhibit Educates Visitors on Lupus
The exhibit features interactive stations where visitors can learn about the biology of lupus, recognize warning signs, and discover the latest treatment options. Personal stories from “lupus warriors” offer an intimate look into the daily challenges faced by those living with the disease.
Healthcare professionals are also present to answer questions about disease management and ongoing research. This hands-on approach helps break down misconceptions and encourages early detection.
Exhibit Tour Expands Lupus Education Nationwide
Following its debut at SM Aura Premier, the exhibit will travel to SM Podium from June 6 to 8 and later to SM City North EDSA from August 22 to 24. These stops aim to reach thousands more mall visitors, spreading critical lupus awareness across different communities.
The Hope for Lupus Foundation expressed gratitude to SM Supermalls for providing prime venues to support health advocacy. Under the leadership of its founder, the foundation remains dedicated to early diagnosis, patient empowerment, and the belief that informed communities can change the course of lupus—one story at a time.
