ZAMBOANGA CITY – A tragic road crash on San Ramon Highway left two dead and a teenage driver critically injured on Sunday afternoon, June 8. The horrific road crash involved a speeding sedan and a motorcycle, resulting in a fiery collision that shocked witnesses.
The 17-year-old driver, Franz Amir Maani Sahibula, sustained critical injuries after his car burst into flames following the impact. Meanwhile, live-in partners Daniel Maralpes and Robelyn Catalbas died instantly when their motorcycle collided with the sedan.

Closed-circuit television footage revealed that Maralpes was driving the motorcycle with Catalbas as the back rider. They were crossing San Ramon Highway from one side to the other when the speeding sedan struck them. In an instant, the motorcycle vanished from view, leaving only the helmets of the two victims scattered on the road.
The force of the crash pushed the car into the perimeter fence of the San Ramon Penal Farm, where it exploded into a fireball. Despite the flames, Sahibula managed to escape the burning vehicle and was rushed to Zamboanga City Medical Center in critical condition.
