House Lawmakers Demonstrate Unity with Manifesto of Support
Quezon 2nd district Rep. David “Jay-jay” Suarez recently highlighted the strong unity among House members, pointing to the number of lawmakers who signed the manifesto of support for House Speaker Martin Romualdez. This clear show of solidarity reflects the desire for stable leadership amid ongoing political challenges.
The 285 congressmen who signed the manifesto serve as a powerful symbol of unity in the House of Representatives. Suarez, also a House deputy speaker, emphasized the importance of this collective backing for Romualdez’s leadership during this critical period for the nation.
Unity Amidst Criticism from Cebu Lawmaker
This declaration came after Cebu 5th district Rep. Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco expressed concerns over the current leadership. In a Facebook post, Frasco warned that “The unity our people once hoped for has been steadily undermined by political and personal interests.”
Frasco stressed the need for a House leadership that unites rather than divides, especially while the country faces pressing issues. “At this critical time in our nation, I believe we need leadership in the House that unites rather than divides,” he said.
Strong Support for Speaker Romualdez
In response, Suarez pointed to the overwhelming number of lawmakers rallying behind Romualdez as proof of real unity. “If you look at the support that Speaker Romualdez has garnered and continues to maintain—285 congressmen have signed the manifesto of support,” he noted during an interview.
He added, “And I think that is a true sign of unity when it comes to the members of the House of Representatives, wherein we want continuity, we want true leadership that can address the issues being faced by our country.”
This strong endorsement among lawmakers highlights a collective commitment to steady governance and progress, setting aside differences to focus on the nation’s welfare.
