House Speaker Promotes Digivacc Application
House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez has called on Filipino families to utilize the Digivacc application for monitoring their children’s vaccination records. This new digital tool aims to simplify how parents keep track of their kids’ immunization status.
Launched recently through the collaboration of the Department of Health, the United Nations Children’s Fund, and the government of Japan, the Digivacc app leverages the widespread use of smartphones and internet access. “With widespread smartphone and internet use, it’s now easier for parents to stay updated on their children’s vaccination schedules. We urge every Filipino family to take advantage of this innovation,” Romualdez stated on Saturday.
Enhancing Public Health Through Technology
The app not only allows parents to view their child’s vaccination history but also provides notifications for upcoming doses. It serves as a digital platform where healthcare providers can record and access immunization data efficiently.
Romualdez emphasized the shared responsibility in maintaining public health, saying, “Public health is a shared responsibility. By working together, government and citizens, we can build a healthier, stronger nation where no one is left behind.”
Pilot Testing and Nationwide Plans
Currently, the application is being piloted in 13 local government units, though specific areas have not been disclosed. This phase will help refine the app before a broader nationwide rollout, ensuring it meets the needs of Filipino families and healthcare workers alike.
The introduction of Digivacc marks a significant step toward modernizing public health monitoring in the Philippines. By embracing this technology, the government hopes to improve vaccination coverage and ultimately protect more children from preventable diseases.
