House Work Suspended Due to Bad Weather
MANILA, Philippines — Work at the House of Representatives was officially suspended on Wednesday as severe weather conditions continued to affect the region, sources said. Secretary General Reginald Velasco issued a memorandum confirming the suspension of House work on July 23, 2025, to protect employees during the ongoing storms.
Velasco emphasized that despite the House work suspension, offices with essential functions must maintain uninterrupted service delivery. “In view of the inclement weather, work in the House of Representatives shall be suspended on July 23, 2025. However, offices with essential functions shall ensure that all services remain unimpeded,” he noted. “The House leadership will continue to take measures to safeguard the welfare of our employees,” he added.
Third Consecutive Day of Work Suspension
This marks the third straight day that the House work has been halted due to persistent heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat. On Monday, the House leadership allowed early dismissal at 4 p.m. to help employees avoid hazardous conditions. Work was then fully suspended on Tuesday and continued through Wednesday as the weather worsened.
