Massive Illegal Drugs Seized in Bicol Region
More than P22 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in Bicol during August, officials reported Thursday. The Police Regional Office in Bicol confirmed the successful anti-drug operations that led to this significant haul.
According to sources, the operations targeted various locations across the region, resulting in the confiscation of 3,358.337 grams of shabu and 61.1000 grams of marijuana. These seizures were achieved through 155 coordinated efforts by law enforcement.
Arrest of 125 Drug Suspects Including High-Value Targets
Authorities also arrested 125 drug suspects in connection with these raids. Among those detained were five high-value individuals, while the remaining 120 were identified as street-level pushers and users, community members said.
PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr. highlighted the importance of these arrests in disrupting the drug supply chain within the region. He emphasized that the operations continue to target both major players and local distributors.
Breakdown of Confiscated Drug Values by Province
Among the provinces in Bicol, Camarines Norte recorded the highest value of confiscated drugs, amounting to PHP16.1 million. This was followed by Camarines Sur with P4.8 million, Naga City at P675,694, and Catanduanes with P554,200.
Other provinces also contributed to the total haul: Albay with P291,924, Masbate at P263,840, and Sorsogon with P48,620. Local leaders noted that these figures reflect the ongoing challenges in combating illegal drug trade across the region.
