Improved Weather Conditions Forecast in Luzon Monday
Weather updates reveal improved weather conditions forecast in Luzon for Monday, while Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao face isolated thunderstorms, officials reported. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) shared this in its latest advisory.
Scattered Rainshowers in Luzon Due to Low-Pressure Area
Weather specialist Charmagne Varilla explained that parts of Central and Northern Luzon are currently experiencing scattered rainshowers. This is attributed to a low-pressure area (LPA) situated outside the Philippine area of responsibility. Additionally, the southwest monsoon, known locally as the habagat, intensified by this LPA, is causing scattered showers in Palawan, Mindoro, Metro Manila, Cavite, and Batangas, sources said.
The LPA was last tracked approximately 1,010 kilometers west of Northern Luzon and is considered to have a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within 24 hours. Meanwhile, a new LPA was observed inside the Philippine area of responsibility, around 585 kilometers east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, community members noted.
Luzon Weather to Improve as LPA Moves Away
Varilla added that the scattered rainshowers over western Luzon will give way to isolated rainshowers. “This means that the weather will improve because the low-pressure area is moving away from the country and its trough will not affect any parts of Luzon,” she said. Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon is expected to experience isolated thunderstorms from afternoon until evening, officials reported.
Palawan and Other Regions to Experience Isolated Thunderstorms
Palawan is also forecasted to enjoy better weather, as the habagat will no longer reach the area due to the distance of the LPA, local leaders noted. “Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience isolated thunderstorms. But there are high chances of rains in the afternoon and evening,” Varilla emphasized.
Sea Conditions and Safety Advisories
No gale warnings have been issued for any seaboards of the country. However, fishermen and operators of small watercraft are warned to take caution due to moderate sea conditions in the western portion of Luzon, sources advised.
