InfinitUs Marketing Solutions Faces Urgent Probe

InfinitUs Marketing Solutions Draws Sharp Criticism

Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers has called for a thorough investigation into InfinitUs Marketing Solutions, Inc., the public relations firm linked to the Chinese government. Barbers highlighted the urgent need to examine the PR company’s influence and activities during the final hearing of the House tri-committee on June 5.

Barbers criticized the “China-created, China Embassy-funded and Chinese-manned” firm for employing Filipino “keyboard warriors” to orchestrate campaigns targeting anti-China figures and politicians. These campaigns also sought to undermine the Philippines’ stand on the West Philippine Sea (WPS). “We still don’t know the extent of the past and present activities done by InfinitUs. But it is clear that it has documented ties with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China. I demand that an urgent and thorough probe be done by this committee on this particular PR firm,” Barbers said.

Calls for Government Agencies to Intervene

The lawmaker urged the tri-committee to utilize the powers of government bodies like the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to trace InfinitUs’ funding sources. He emphasized the need to investigate the firm’s alleged creation of “troll farms” and hiring of keyboard warriors spreading false narratives and fake news against the country’s foreign policies and the WPS issue.

Barbers also questioned the firm’s tax compliance, signaling possible financial irregularities. “I demand that this panel exercise its full authority to probe and hold accountable all persons complicit in this scheme, particularly those Chinese and Filipino keyboard warriors paid for by a foreign entity to launch a disinformation campaign that undermines the country’s interests and security,” he added.

Revealing Service Agreement and Leadership Ties

Further scrutiny showed that InfinitUs was incorporated by three Chinese nationals alongside three Filipino individuals believed to be dummies. The firm signed a service agreement with the Chinese Embassy, specifically with PR director Wu Chenqi, to promote pro-China propaganda.

The agreement included “issue management projects,” which Barbers interpreted as deliberate efforts to craft and spread pro-China narratives through social media. During the hearing, Barbers presented documents, including InfinitUs’ SEC registration and financial statements, proving one of the firm’s officers, Myka Isabel Poynton, signed the contract with the Chinese Embassy.

Poynton held multiple roles within InfinitUs, acting as marketing director, treasurer, corporate secretary, and board member. Barbers dismissed claims made in a recent Senate hearing that the service agreement was forged, reinforcing that the documents were authentic.

“This is not a simple partnership. From all indications, nililoko na tayo ng mga ito (we are being fooled by these people),” Barbers stressed, urging for immediate and comprehensive action.

Next Steps for Accountability

The tri-committee is urged to deepen investigations into InfinitUs’ activities to safeguard national interests. Close collaboration with regulatory agencies and law enforcement will be crucial to uncover the full scope of the PR firm’s operations and to hold accountable those involved in influencing public opinion against the country’s sovereignty.
