Inflation Remains Most Urgent Concern Among Filipinos
MANILA, Philippines — Inflation remains the most urgent concern among Filipinos, a recent Pulse Asia survey revealed. The nationwide study, conducted in June, showed that 62 percent of respondents prioritized inflation as their top issue.
Despite inflation easing to 1.3 percent in May—the lowest in nearly six years—and a slight increase to 1.4 percent in June, it continues to dominate public worry. Local sources noted this persistent concern amid shifting economic conditions.
Consistent Concern Across Survey Periods
Inflation has consistently ranked highest in public concern throughout various survey periods. Data from June 2024 to April 2025 showed figures ranging from 69 to 74 percent. This steady anxiety reflects how deeply inflation affects everyday lives nationwide.
Regional and Socioeconomic Breakdown
The highest inflation concern came from Metro Manila, where 72 percent of respondents expressed worry. Mindanao followed with 64 percent, while Balance Luzon and Visayas reported 60 percent. Concern levels remained fairly uniform across social classes, with 62 percent in Classes ABC and E and 63 percent in Class D identifying inflation as their primary issue.
Other Major Public Concerns
Aside from inflation, 51 percent of respondents pointed to increasing wages and reducing poverty as urgent matters. About 26 percent specifically emphasized the need for higher worker pay and poverty alleviation to improve livelihoods.
Survey Methodology
The Pulse Asia survey was conducted from June 26 to 30, 2025, using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 representative adults aged 18 and above. It carries a ±2.8 percent margin of error and a 95 percent confidence level, providing a reliable snapshot of public sentiment.
