As the 2025 elections draw near, advocacy groups are raising their voices with a strong message for Filipino voters: choose your leaders wisely. The call is clear—steer clear of candidates linked to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) and those with a shady past marked by unethical or abusive behavior.
Digital Pinoys, a prominent digital advocacy group, emphasized that voting for candidates supported by POGOs is essentially endorsing exploitation and impunity. “We must never allow our ballots to be used to legitimize illegal and harmful interests,” the group warned. They urged every Filipino to back leaders who prioritize the rule of law, transparency, and genuine public service.
This plea comes amid President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s firm stance. In his July 2024 State of the Nation Address, he called for a complete ban on POGOs by year-end, condemning the sector for its “grave abuse” and outright disrespect for Philippine laws and values.
The youth, often dubbed as the future of the nation, received a special reminder from Aksyon Eleksyon 2025. This youth advocacy organization urged young voters to critically examine candidates and reject those with records of corruption, abuse, or involvement in political dynasties. Their call is to hold all public servants accountable and refuse votes for those linked to public fund misuse.
With the stakes this high, the message is urgent: Filipinos must cast their votes with vigilance. The future of the nation depends on leaders who embody integrity and commitment—not those with questionable ties and damaging histories. As the election season heats up, remember: your vote can either safeguard democracy or fuel abuse and impunity. Choose wisely. Choose the Philippines.
