Zaijian Jaranilla Issues Apology Over Controversial Remarks
Kapamilya actor Zaijian Jaranilla recently apologized after sparking backlash for his comments about Kapuso stars Dustin Yu and Vince Maristela. His remarks, which circulated widely on social media, stirred controversy among fans of the Kapuso celebrities.
The issue began when spliced clips from a TikTok live session involving Zaijian’s friend, Ralph de Leon, emerged online. Ralph, a recent evictee from “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab,” shared the PBB house with Dustin and Vince, who are Kapuso talents.
Controversial Comments Caught on TikTok Live
In the video clips, Zaijian can be heard making unfavorable statements about Dustin and Vince. He reportedly urged others not to vote for Dustin and referred to Vince as an “adik” (addict), which upset many viewers.
Fans of Dustin and Vince quickly reacted, labeling Zaijian as a “bully” in real life. Some even remarked that his friendly and gentle persona on camera contrasts sharply with his off-camera behavior, recalling his role as Santino, a beloved character known for his innocence.
Impact on Ralph de Leon and Further Reactions
The controversy also affected Ralph de Leon, with some fans doubting his chances of returning to the show due to the incident. During the TikTok live on May 15, Ralph was in a room with Zaijian and other co-stars from “High Street.” When asked about his Big 4 choices among remaining housemates, Zaijian was overheard saying, “Huwag niyo nang iboto si Dustin!” which was immediately reprimanded by others.
Additionally, Zaijian called Vince an “adik” after noticing a resemblance between Vince and another co-star, Tommy Alejandrino. These remarks further fueled the backlash.
Zaijian’s Public Apology and Clarification
In response to the uproar, Zaijian expressed regret and clarified that his intentions were not malicious. He explained that the comments were made in jest among friends and did not aim to offend anyone.
“Huy easy lang! Sorry na huwag na kayo magalit. At huwag niyo idamay yung mga kaibigan ko sa opinyon ko. Di ba pwede biruin idol niyo? Sorry na [peace sign emoji],” Zaijian said, adding the hashtag #KungSiLordNagpapatawadKayoPa to emphasize his plea for forgiveness.
His apology aims to ease tensions and mend relationships with fans and the Kapuso stars involved.
