Kitchie Nadal Balances Motherhood and Music
Singer-songwriter Kitchie Nadal has spent over 20 years in the music industry, consistently inspiring fans with her heartfelt songs. Among the biggest sources of inspiration for Kitchie Nadal are her two children, Keon and Iago. In a recent interview conducted via Zoom, she expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m thankful for my children kasi they are the ones that keep me creative, they kept my creative side alive and flowing. Kasi dati mahilig ako magsulat ng mga emo and heartbreak song, but this time I’m more driven to write more positive songs.”
Now 44 years old and residing in Spain, Kitchie Nadal manages to juggle her artistic pursuits with motherhood. Despite adapting well to life split between Spain and the Philippines, she admits that leaving her children behind is the biggest challenge. “Madali naman ako magadjust sa mga time between Spain and Philippines, pero ang pinaka-challenge lang siguro sa akin is yung leaving my kids, that’s the hardest part. That’s why when I go to the Philippines, I’m very selective when it comes to gigs, focused ako on the gigs that I’m compelled to do,” she shared.
Adjusting to Life Abroad While Missing the Music Scene
Having lived in Spain for nearly eight years, Kitchie misses certain aspects of her life back home. “Siguro yung pinakanami-miss ko is yung music scene kasi that’s was my life for so many years, performing on weekends minsan weekdays pa that was my lifestyle. And of course, hanging out with my friends and of course watching shows in bars, and especially the Filipino crowd,” she revealed.
Her daily life in Spain is relatively simple and centered mainly on raising her children. “Because they are quite a handful already, that’s why I don’t explore other projects. But when I have some extra time, I will do some songwriting or go out with my husband,” Kitchie added.
From Mojofly to Solo Success
Kitchie Nadal first gained recognition as the original lead vocalist of Mojofly. Over time, she carved out her own space in the industry with popular hits like “Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin,” “Same Ground,” and “Bulong.”
Excitement Builds for Upcoming Concert
She is set to perform her first solo concert at the Big Dome on June 21. Titled “New Ground Manila 2025,” the show aims to bring fans on a nostalgic journey while also introducing new material. Kitchie expressed enthusiasm about the fresh collaborations planned for the event. “I’m most excited about the new collaborations—especially with guest artists I’ve never worked with before. We’re doing something really out of the box this time, mixing genres and creating unexpected moments, something fans haven’t seen from me yet,” she said.
Produced by a group of local entertainment companies, tickets for the concert are now available.
