Korean National Arrested Practicing Medicine Without License in Pampanga
Authorities apprehended a Korean national for practicing medicine without a valid license in Pampanga, officials reported. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed that John Suk, also known as John Seuk or Suk Sang Hong, was arrested on August 14 inside a clinic located in the Clark Freeport Zone.
Undercover Operation Leads to Arrest
Following intelligence reports, the NBI launched an operation targeting Suk after it was discovered he was providing medical services despite not being registered with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). Sources said that an undercover patient visited Suk’s clinic seeking medical advice for skin-related issues.
During the encounter, Suk assessed the patient, diagnosed the condition, and recommended a follow-up visit in two weeks to perform surgical removal of a cyst. However, when asked to present a license or any accreditation to practice medicine, Suk failed to provide any documentation, prompting his immediate arrest.
Unregistered Medicines Seized from Clinic
Officials reported that several medical supplies were confiscated from the clinic, including vaccines, antibiotics, and other pharmaceutical products. Some of these items were found to be unregistered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), raising further concerns about public safety.
Legal Charges Filed Against the Suspect
Suk now faces multiple complaints for violating Section 8 and 10 of the Medical Act of 1959 under Republic Act 2382, as amended by RA 4224. Additionally, he is charged under Section 11 (a) of the FDA Act of 2009, Republic Act 9711, for possession and use of unregistered drugs.
Following his arrest, Suk was brought to the NBI-Tarlac District Office (NBI-TARDO) for booking procedures and was presented for inquest proceedings. Community members expressed relief over the swift action taken to protect public health.
