Angeles City, Pampanga — A Korean man was shot and killed during a robbery in front of a bank in Angeles City, drawing condemnation from the Korean community and prompting a reward offer to speed up the arrest of the perpetrators.
According to CJ Torida’s report on “Saksi”, the victim and his companion were standing outside a bank when they were accosted by two men on a motorcycle, commonly referred to as riding-in-tandem suspects.
One of the assailants forcibly grabbed the victim’s bag containing ₱5,000 in cash and other valuables. As the victim and his friend attempted to retrieve the stolen bag, one of the suspects shot the Korean man in the chest, then fled the scene with his accomplice.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
In response, the Korean Association in the Philippines has condemned the violent crime and is offering a ₱200,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the suspects’ capture.
Local police are conducting a manhunt and reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity of the bank to identify the assailants.
This incident has heightened concerns over the safety of foreign nationals in the area, especially within the Korean expat community, which has long had a significant presence in Angeles City.
