Student Robbed Along Lacson Street Bacolod
Police are investigating a reported hold-up involving a 23-year-old female college student along Lacson Street in Bacolod City. The incident allegedly took place around 6 p.m. on May 8, 2025.
The student told authorities that she was walking along Lacson Street Bacolod to buy dinner when a lone suspect suddenly approached and pressed a knife against her chest. Frightened, she quickly handed over P49,000 in cash to the suspect.
She explained that the money was meant to pay her cousin’s tuition. “Baka hindi siya kampanteng iwanan ang pera doon sa boarding house kasi baka mawala. Nag-report sya na hinoldap,” said Major Eugene Tolentino, chief of Police Station 2.
Security Concerns Rise After Incident Along Lacson Street Bacolod
There are no CCTV cameras in the area where the alleged hold-up occurred, and no witnesses have come forward, police said. In response, the caretaker of the boarding house where the victim stays is considering stricter security measures.
“10 p.m. ang aming curfew tapos hindi na maaaring lumabas. Maaga silang umuwi,” said Genus Gicar, the dormitory caretaker, emphasizing the importance of early curfew for safety.
The victim declined to give an interview when approached, but other students living nearby have been alerted about the incident. “Common na dito na may nang-sna-snatch, riding in tandem,” shared Kesia Mae Olid, a fellow student.
Another student, Queenie Peñas, added, “This will serve as a lesson na maging alert and aware at all times. Sa ganitong moment, a call to install CCTV at security.”
The police continue their investigation to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for the hold-up along Lacson Street Bacolod.
