A lady pastor linked to Faithful Promise Foundation Phils., Inc. fell into the hands of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in a dramatic arrest in Baras, Rizal. The charge? Large-scale illegal recruitment that duped hopeful overseas workers.
The operation, carried out by the NBI Cavite North District Office, came after a tip-off from the Department of Migrant Workers. Four victims had bravely stepped forward, exposing a sinister scheme masterminded by the pastor and her alleged accomplices, including her husband and niece.
Victims were lured with promises of high-paying missionary jobs in Korea, Japan, and Australia. But the dream came with a steep price—a P50,000 processing fee—paid upfront in the hope of a brighter future abroad.
Yet, the pastor had no authority to deploy workers overseas. Instead, she and her cohorts allegedly played a long con, twisting faith into a dangerous trap. Now facing charges under the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act and estafa, the suspect’s name remains under wraps as investigators plan to bring her accomplices to justice.
This arrest sends a chilling reminder: Be wary of promises that seem too good to be true, especially when seeking work beyond our shores. The NBI is not letting up, vowing to continue the crackdown to protect vulnerable Filipinos from predatory recruitment schemes.
