Laguna Aquatech Champions Cleaner Safer Water Quality
Laguna Aquatech, a key Manila Water Non-East Zone unit, has taken a significant step toward delivering cleaner safer water quality to several Laguna towns. In partnership with Laguna Water District, the company recently hosted its first-ever Lakbayan facility tour, showcasing its latest water treatment advancements to local leaders and stakeholders.
The event highlighted Laguna Aquatech’s commitment to provide safe and high-quality drinking water for Los Baños and neighboring communities. Attendees included Los Baños Mayor Neil Nocon, Vice Mayor Marlo PJ Alipon, Laguna Water District General Manager Joel Lapis, and Manila Water executives who toured the Bayog and Vega Pump Stations.
Introducing the Innovative DMI-65 Filtration Technology
During the tour, participants were introduced to the state-of-the-art DMI-65 filtration technology. This cutting-edge system is designed to effectively remove harmful contaminants such as iron, manganese, and arsenic from the water supply. Officials reported that this innovation is pivotal in enhancing water safety and quality for the communities served.
“This is part of our commitment to deliver water that is not only safe but also meets the highest quality standards for drinking water,” Laguna Aquatech General Manager Arra Patricio said. The technology was pilot-tested at the Umali Pump Station in 2024 and successfully met the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW).
Expanding Water Treatment Across Laguna
Following the successful pilot, Laguna Aquatech has begun expanding the DMI-65 system across its network. To date, five pump stations—including Umali, Bayog, Vega, Lopez Heights, and LA Village—are equipped with this advanced filtration. Community members noted that full coverage is targeted by the first quarter of 2026, ensuring wider access to cleaner safer water quality.
Understanding Lakbayan: A Water Trail Program
“Lakbayan” is Manila Water’s innovative water trail program that traces the journey of water from natural sources through treatment to distribution. The program offers an educational experience, deepening public understanding of water operations and the company’s dedication to providing potable water to its service areas.
More than just a tour, Lakbayan serves as a platform for transparency and collaboration. It allows participants to witness ongoing projects focused on protecting public health, enhancing service reliability, and addressing increasing water demand, officials reported.
Continuing Engagement and Future Plans
Following the successful Lakbayan event in Los Baños, Laguna Aquatech plans to conduct additional tours in other municipalities within its service area. These initiatives aim to further engage local leaders and communities in their water quality improvement efforts, local leaders noted.
Laguna Aquatech’s ongoing investments in water treatment technologies reflect a broader mission to ensure that every household in its service area enjoys safe, sustainable, and high-quality water—from the source all the way to the tap.
