DOH Delivers Ambulances to Lanao del Sur LGUs
MANILA, Philippines — Forty-one local government units in Lanao del Sur province recently received ambulances from the Department of Health. This significant delivery aims to enhance emergency response and healthcare services across the region.
The new ambulances were handed over to 39 municipal governments, the provincial government, and the city government of Marawi, according to statements from health officials during the turnover ceremony held last Friday. The department emphasized that these vehicles are fully equipped ambulances, not just basic patient transport units.
“This is not a patient transport vehicle. This is a complete ambulance with life-saving equipment,” said the DOH Secretary during the event. He clarified the difference, noting that a patient transport vehicle lacks essential life support features necessary for critical emergencies.
Training for Proper Ambulance Use
To maximize the impact of these ambulances, the DOH will also provide personnel training. The secretary instructed regional leaders to coordinate with the Health Emergency Management Bureau to ensure staff in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) can properly operate the ambulance equipment.
Local officials and community members welcomed the initiative, recognizing its importance in delivering timely medical aid. One local leader remarked, “This will greatly improve how we respond to health emergencies in our towns.”
Supporting Regional Health Facilities
In addition to the ambulance turnover, DOH representatives visited the Amai Pakpak Medical Center. This hospital serves as both the region’s heart institute and lung center, providing specialized care to residents.
The delivery of ambulances and the support for regional health centers demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access and emergency response capabilities in Lanao del Sur.
