Las Piñas Begins TUPAD Program for Disadvantaged Workers
The local government of Las Piñas has announced that 215 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program will start their community-based work assignments on June 2. This initiative aims to provide immediate livelihood support to residents facing employment challenges.
Mayor-elect April Aguilar confirmed that the beneficiaries will be employed for 20 days, receiving a daily wage of ₱645. This wage aligns with the current minimum salary standards in Metro Manila, ensuring fair compensation for the participants.
Orientation and Support for TUPAD Beneficiaries
Before beginning their assignments, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) conducted a thorough orientation at the City Hall Multipurpose Building. During the session, participants were briefed on their roles, safety protocols, and the terms of their employment under the TUPAD program.
Aguilar attended the orientation and expressed her full support for the initiative. She also thanked the beneficiaries for their willingness to take part in the program, emphasizing the city’s commitment to providing accessible livelihood opportunities for vulnerable sectors.
Partnership with DOLE to Strengthen Employment
The mayor highlighted that the TUPAD program is implemented in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), working closely with PESO. This collaboration aims to address unemployment by offering immediate work opportunities to Las Piñeros who are displaced or disadvantaged.
According to community leaders, DOLE’s TUPAD program serves as a crucial tool to alleviate unemployment and support local residents in securing temporary income while they seek longer-term employment.
