Law and The City: Korean Legal Drama Premieres July 5

New Korean Legal Drama Law and The City Premieres

The new Korean legal drama Law and The City shines a spotlight on overworked and underappreciated lawyers navigating Seoul’s demanding legal world. This series will debut on Disney+ on July 5, offering viewers a gripping look into the lives of legal professionals trying to balance their past dreams with harsh realities.

Set away from Gangnam’s bright lights and Hongdae’s nightlife, Seocho emerges as a busy legal district where lawyers face daily struggles. Law and The City explores this unique environment with a fresh perspective, focusing on the challenges lawyers endure behind the scenes.

Characters and Storyline

The 12-episode series stars Lee Jong-suk as Ahn Juhyeong, a brilliant yet burned-out lawyer who has mastered his craft but feels stuck in his career. Moon Ga-young plays Kang Huiji, a determined new lawyer whose enthusiasm contrasts with the weariness of her colleagues. Together, their stories reveal the emotional and ethical battles lawyers encounter.

Supporting actors Kang You-seok, Ryu Hye-young, and Im Seong-jae enrich the narrative, while director Park Seung-woo and writer Lee Seung-hyeon—a practicing lawyer himself—bring authenticity to the script. The show is produced by CJ ENM Studios, known for delivering quality Korean content.

Exploring Moral Conflicts and Ambitions

Law and The City centers on Ahn Juhyeong, a ninth-year associate who is skilled but hesitant to advance. His disillusionment grows as he often defends clients whose values clash with his own. The arrival of Huiji rekindles his original passion for justice, reminding him of the ideals he once held dear.

This legal drama captures the emotional toll of the profession and the clash between ambition and reality. It also highlights how young lawyers confront the pressures and ethical dilemmas of their demanding careers.

Upcoming Korean Titles on Disney+

Law and The City is part of an exciting lineup of Korean dramas soon arriving on Disney+. Other anticipated shows include Original Delusion, a story about a mourning vampire; Low Life, which follows backstabbing characters chasing a life-changing treasure; and Tempest, a thriller about a diplomat and special agent racing to expose a threat to the Korean peninsula.

Fans of Korean dramas can look forward to diverse stories blending suspense, drama, and complex characters. These new releases promise to deepen the appeal of Korean content on global streaming platforms.
