Lebak Truck Crash Claims Eight Lives in Sultan Kudarat
A tragic incident occurred in Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday afternoon when a mini-dump truck lost control and plunged into a ravine in Lebak town. The Lebak truck crash claimed eight lives and left thirteen others critically injured.
According to local officials, the victims were traveling from Barangay Poloy-Poloy to Cotabato City after attending a Muslim pre-nuptial event. The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. as the vehicle made its way along Highway 70 in Barangay Christianuevo.
Details of the Accident and Victims
The vehicle involved was a blue mini-dump truck (license plate MAT 1126), which had been modified to carry passengers. The driver, Alvin Adam, 38, reportedly lost control while trying to avoid roadblocks. All those aboard were residents of Barangay Senditan in Sultan Kudarat town, Maguindanao del Norte province.
Rescue teams from the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office quickly responded and transported the injured to the South Upi municipal hospital. Sadly, eight victims were pronounced dead on arrival. Their names were confirmed as Moner Abdulla, Todz Mamintal, Marinaya Nailan, Babylyn Sahipa, Alling Sahipa, Mohammad Digan, Mohammad Macarimbang, and Mando Sali.
Critical Injuries and Ongoing Response
Meanwhile, thirteen other passengers suffered critical injuries and were transferred to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center in Cotabato City for further treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Local leaders expressed their condolences and urged motorists to exercise caution, especially on challenging routes like Highway 70. The community remains united in supporting the victims’ families during this difficult time.
