Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez Champions Economic Growth
MANILA, Philippines — Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez has pledged to actively support legislative efforts in Congress to foster a more dynamic, resilient, and inclusive economy. This commitment follows praise for President Marcos’s success in securing over $21 billion in investment pledges and $63 million in development aid during his recent three-day official trip to the United States.
In a statement released on Saturday, Romualdez emphasized that these achievements demonstrate that President Marcos is effectively attracting long-term capital. “This will bring real benefits to our people—more jobs, improved infrastructure, and greater opportunities for every Filipino family,” he said.
Investment Pledges Reflect Strong Leadership
“The President has clearly communicated that the Philippines is open for business, and the global response has been overwhelmingly positive,” Romualdez added. He credited these investment commitments to steady leadership, credibility, and the country’s improving economic foundation.
He further remarked, “We are witnessing the early gains of Bagong Pilipinas—a nation that is globally connected, economically confident, and better equipped to overcome challenges.”
Legislative Role in Converting Pledges to Reality
Romualdez stressed that the incoming 20th Congress must focus on converting these pledges into actual investments. This can be done through crafting laws that position the Philippines as Asia’s top investment destination.
“Ang ating tungkulin sa Kongreso ay tiyaking maisasakatuparan ang mga planong ito sa pamamagitan ng batas. Kung may kumpiyansa ang mundo sa atin, mas lalo tayong dapat magkaisa upang itaguyod ang kinabukasan ng bawat Pilipino,” Romualdez declared.
