Light Rail Transit Line 1 Limited Operations Ongoing
MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 1 limited operations continue due to a technical problem, the operator announced Thursday evening. Currently, LRT-1 trains are only running between Dr. Santos Station and Central Station in both directions.
The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) confirmed that their engineering team is already on-site, working tirelessly to fix the issue and restore full service as soon as possible. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding during this unforeseen incident,” the company stated in an advisory.
Repeated Service Interruptions Raise Concern
This service disruption comes just about a month after LRT-1 was temporarily limited due to an electrical fault in June. The recurrence of technical difficulties has caused frustration among daily commuters who rely heavily on the system.
In the meantime, it is also worth noting that the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) experienced its own technical problems earlier in June, which led to similar delays and inconveniences for passengers.
Local sources said that these incidents highlight the need for continuous maintenance and upgrades to ensure reliable train operations. Commuters are advised to plan their trips accordingly while the LRT-1 operator works to resolve the current issue.
