Liquor Ban Enforcement Ahead Election 2025
The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that 159 individuals were arrested for violating the liquor ban implemented for Election 2025. This crackdown was confirmed as of 11:59 p.m. last Sunday, the first day of the nationwide ban.
The liquor ban started Sunday and will remain in effect through Monday, which is Election Day. The police have been on full alert since May 3 to ensure a peaceful and orderly election process.
Police Deployment and Preparedness
According to PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, a total of 201,438 personnel from various law enforcement agencies have been deployed for election duty. Of these, 163,621 are police officers assigned to maintain peace and order nationwide.
Moreover, the PNP activated all Reactionary Standby Support Forces (RSSF), Quick Reaction Forces (QRF), and regional units. These teams are on standby and ready to respond immediately to any untoward incidents during the election period.
Ensuring Safety in Polling Areas
The police presence has been intensified particularly around polling centers and other critical locations. The PNP emphasized its commitment to uphold the rule of law and support the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in safeguarding the right of every Filipino to vote freely and securely.
They also urged the public to stay vigilant. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities and cooperate fully with the law enforcement personnel deployed to their communities.
