Local Government Leaders Urged to Regain Public Trust

President Marcos Calls for Unity Among Local Officials

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday strongly encouraged local government leaders to collaborate in regaining public trust amid ongoing concerns about corruption. This call to action came during the oath-taking ceremony of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) National Executive Board (NEB) and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) National Executive Officers.

During the event, officials reported that the president emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability as key elements for restoring faith in public institutions. “We must work hand in hand to rebuild the trust that has been shaken,” community members said Marcos expressed.

Addressing Corruption to Restore Confidence

Local leaders noted that the president highlighted the urgent need to address corruption within government ranks. He urged officials to lead by example and promote ethical governance at all levels. “The public expects us to be honest and diligent,” sources said the president reminded the assembled local executives.

Officials reported that Marcos also encouraged the newly sworn-in members of the LCP and LMP to prioritize programs that enhance transparency and accountability. By doing so, he believes local governments can significantly improve their credibility with the citizens they serve.

Strengthening Collaboration Across Local Governments

Community members said the president underscored the value of cooperation among cities and municipalities. He pointed out that united efforts can more effectively tackle corruption and other governance challenges. “No single local government can succeed alone; partnership is essential,” local leaders noted.

Furthermore, officials reported that Marcos called for innovative approaches and shared best practices among local government units. This collaborative spirit, he said, would foster a culture of integrity and public service excellence.

Commitment to Transparent Governance

Sources said the president reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting local governments in their fight against corruption. He pledged to provide the necessary resources and policy support to empower local officials in their mission to serve with integrity.

Local leaders expressed optimism that this renewed focus on transparency and cooperation will lead to meaningful reforms. “It is through collective action and steadfast dedication that we can restore the people’s trust,” community members affirmed.
