Local Government Units Receive Patient Transport Service Vehicles

Patient Transport Service Vehicles Boost Healthcare Access

NASUGBU, Batangas — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s pledge that every local government unit (LGU) will receive at least one patient transport service vehicle by year-end marks a significant advancement in healthcare delivery, local leaders said. The initiative ensures that even the most remote barangays will have faster access to medical transport.

Leyte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez applauded the move, emphasizing that providing LGUs with patient transport service vehicles is a vital step toward strengthening the nation’s healthcare framework. “We commend President Marcos for his unwavering commitment to make quality healthcare accessible to every Filipino. The deployment of emergency medical vehicles is not just a policy move — it is a lifeline extended to the farthest barangay, where medical access is too often delayed or denied,” Romualdez said.

Ensuring Timely Medical Support in All Communities

Romualdez added that LGUs, as frontline responders during emergencies, must be fully equipped. “These are not mere transport units—they are instruments of hope and survival. They will bring urgent care to communities where clinics or hospitals may be hours away,” he explained.

President Marcos announced the rollout during the distribution of patient transport service vehicles to Luzon-based LGUs. He assured that all 1,642 LGUs nationwide will receive at least one unit by the end of 2025. “Because in this administration, every Filipino has the right to accessible medical services,” the President stated.

Distribution and Features of Patient Transport Service Vehicles

To date, 387 patient transport service vehicles have been handed over to Luzon regions: 30 for Ilocos, 72 for Cagayan Valley, 100 for Central Luzon, 27 for Calabarzon, 59 for Mimaropa, 64 for Bicol, and 35 for the Cordillera Administrative Region. Additionally, 123 units are set for Eastern Visayas and 105 for Mindanao.

Each vehicle comes equipped with essential medical tools, including a stretcher, oxygen tank, and blood pressure monitor, ensuring safe patient transport. Unlike traditional ambulances, these vehicles serve patients with non-life-threatening conditions such as scheduled checkups, routine visits, and hospital discharges. Their use of sirens and emergency blinkers is prohibited to differentiate their purpose.

Bringing Healthcare Closer to Every Filipino

Romualdez stressed that a person’s location should never hinder access to medical care. “The distance of a person’s home should not be a hindrance to provision of first aid or medical assistance. That’s why we wholeheartedly support initiatives that would bring medical services closer to each corner of the country.”

He also assured that the House of Representatives will back the administration’s healthcare goals to empower LGUs in caring for their constituents. “This is leadership that delivers. President Marcos is building not just infrastructure, but trust — trust that no Filipino will be left behind in an emergency,” Romualdez said.

“With every PTV we turn over, we’re bringing government closer to the people, and proving that Bagong Pilipinas is not just a slogan, but a promise kept.”
