Lone Gunman Robs Remittance Outlet in Zamboanga Del Sur
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — A lone gunman robbed a remittance outlet on Thursday morning in Barangay Kabatan, Vincenzo Sagun town. The incident has raised concerns about security in local financial establishments.
Col. Bonifacio Arañas Jr., the police director for Zamboanga del Sur, reported that the victim, Sheila Marie, 31, was the cashier at the remittance outlet. An unidentified man wearing a gray hooded jacket and face mask approached her, brandishing a .45 caliber firearm.
Robbery Details and Immediate Escape
The gunman declared a holdup and quickly collected cash from the outlet. He then fled the scene on a blue N-Max motorcycle, leaving the staff and customers shocked.
Authorities from the Vincenzo Sagun police station immediately launched a hot pursuit operation in coordination with neighboring police units to track down the suspect. Officers are reviewing the CCTV footage from the remittance outlet to identify the robber and gather more evidence.
Cash Stolen and Ongoing Investigation
Preliminary investigation and cash count revealed that the suspect escaped with approximately P16,000 in bills. Police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the perpetrator and prevent similar incidents in the province.
